~...and I hold my breath till it's more than I can take and I close my eyes and dream that I'm awake...~

Thanks :D I love their expressions in this shot, though they were playing an upbeat old tune and looked a lot more cheerful in real life!
:iconipawed:
The fact that the closest guy is playing a banjo: priceless.

You couldn't have set up this shot, it is too natural and wonderful; the little things like the fact there is a symmetry in all of the men in how they hold themselves and how the angle at which you took it makes it look like you were quite potentially hiding behind a bush so as not to disturb them and the picture.

It simply makes me happy to see it.

Aww, thanks!

Sovereign Hill is a sort of theme park/Frontierland thing in Ballarat from the fact that the town was built up around the goldfields... so these guys ARE character actors of a sort (hence the piano accordion and banjo!) I did take a couple from the front but, since these guys are obviously photographed by a billion tourists every day, they didn't act "naturally" to me, so I snuck behind a stock barrel to the side and snapped this one :)

The wistful expression of the guy in the middle in particular fascinates me. I don't remember him looking so morose on the day :)
:iconipawed:
Well, actors or not, people always manage to look different when they know they're being photographed (or, at least, that's what I feel) - sometimes you can hardly tell, but other times, even if the person is looking away, it can be so obvious that they know the camera is there.

And, actors or not, they still seem to be three old men enjoying themselves and doing what they like to do and that may very well explain his morose expression: he is still human and he will still be thinking about what lies ahead, or possibly, behind. :]

i went to sovereign hill with my family on easter sunday. i saw these guys playing except the middle one was playing the double bass. i love the double bass, don't you?

Wanting to overtake you...

I just wanted to walk with you...

I wanted to be with you...

You changed me!

Your smile saved me!"
